Experienced School Administrator, School Safety Consultant

Wendy Davison, CPP, CPD, is a school safety and security professional with more than 20 years of experience spanning K–12 education, higher education, student conduct, crisis response, and organizational leadership. Her career has included service as a middle and high school principal, dean, director of Greek life, and judicial coordinator, providing her with a unique perspective on the intersection of student behavior, school culture, leadership, and safety.

Throughout her career, Wendy has been deeply involved in school safety and security initiatives, serving on threat assessment teams, emergency command staffs, and multidisciplinary task forces across multiple states. Today, her work focuses on helping schools build comprehensive safety systems that integrate prevention, preparedness, behavioral threat assessment, physical security, emergency planning, crisis response, and recovery.

Wendy is a Certified Protection Professional (CPP®), board certified in security management through ASIS International. Recognized in more than 85 countries and widely regarded as the “gold standard” for security management professionals, the CPP represents one of the security profession’s most respected credentials. 

Wendy also holds the Certified Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design Professional Designation (CPD), demonstrating advanced expertise in applying CPTED principles to create safer, healthier, and more sustainable environments. Her approach to physical security emphasizes thoughtful environmental design, layered risk reduction, and solutions that support,  rather than undermine, a welcoming school climate.

Her school-specific credentials include certification as a trainer in the Comprehensive School Threat Assessment Guidelines (CSTAG) and NASP PREPaRE Workshops 1 and 2. These disciplines strengthen her work in behavioral threat assessment, crisis prevention, comprehensive school safety planning, psychological preparedness, response, and recovery. She is also trained in the Standard Response Protocol and Standard Reunification Method.

Wendy is the owner of Rocky Mountain Consulting, where she works with schools and districts to develop and operationalize emergency operations plans, conduct threat and vulnerability assessments, strengthen behavioral threat assessment programs, improve physical and procedural security, develop family reunification systems, and train educators to respond confidently and effectively during both everyday incidents and critical events.

In addition, Wendy serves as Associate Director of the National Center for the Prevention of Community Violence (NCPCV), supporting the organization's national work to prevent violence through education, evidence-informed practices, community partnerships, and proactive approaches to safety. Her work with NCPCV includes advancing behavior-based school safety strategies that recognize the critical relationship between behavior, prevention, student well-being, school climate, and security. 

Wendy holds a bachelor's degree in Secondary Education and a master's degree in Education Student Affairs. Combined with her professional security credentials and real-world leadership experience, this foundation allows her to approach school safety not simply as a security challenge, but as an educational, behavioral, organizational, and community responsibility.
